Climate & Emissions Reporting
About
This course provides a comprehensive guide to climate reporting, focusing on both global and national standards in a 2-parts series.
Part 1:
Participants will learn how to identify, measure, and report on key emission sources, specifically within Scope 1 and 2.
Part 2:
The second part of the course focuses on the complex task of mapping and calculating emissions across your value chain (Scope 3), equipping you with the skills to draft a full organisational emissions inventory.
Note: The process of data tracking and collection is an organisation-wide endeavour which ranges from a few months to a year-long exercise, to validate and collect the most accurate data. We also offer carbon calculation and impact reporting services. Learn more about our ESG services here.
Methodology
The course combines theoretical knowledge with practical, case-study-based exercises. Using real-world examples, or an organization-specific one, participants will learn a structured approach to:
Navigate reporting frameworks: Understand and apply global and national climate reporting standards.
Quantify emissions: Systematically identify and calculate emissions across Scope 1, 2, and the value chain (Scope 3).
Decarbonise the value chain: Learn and apply strategies for reducing emissions throughout your supply chain and ecosystem.
Engage stakeholders: Develop effective strategies for initiating conversations and securing buy-in from key stakeholders.
Effectiveness
By the end of this course, participants will be able to accurately map and calculate their organisation's emissions, preparing them for climate-related reporting.
The hands-on approach builds practical skills in decarbonisation strategies and stakeholder engagement, enabling them to lead their organisations toward becoming a leader in climate-friendly business practices.
Key Concepts
Climate Reporting Standards: The established rules and guidelines for how companies and nations measure, manage, and report their climate-related information, such as those from the GHG Protocol, TCFD, or national regulations.
Scope 1 Emissions: Direct greenhouse gas emissions from sources that are owned or controlled by the organisation.
Scope 2 Emissions: Indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, heat, or steam.
Scope 3 Emissions: All other indirect emissions that occur in an organisation's value chain, both upstream and downstream, which often represent the largest portion of a company's carbon footprint.
Decarbonisation: The process of reducing or eliminating carbon dioxide emissions from an organization's operations and value chain.
