Did you know?
AI's rapid growth Could generate
1.2 to 5 million
metric tons of
Data Center e-waste annually by 2030.
This is a thousand-fold increase in AI server waste from 2023.
With global recycling rates under 25%, this surge means massive resource loss and escalating toxic pollution.

Why Carbon Intensity matters?
Technology activities, from datacentres to personal device uses, currently accounts for
2% to 4%
of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
This is on par with the entire aviation industry's emissions,
a sector that is frequently cited as a major contributor
to climate change.
Unlike a flight where you might be shown a carbon footprint, the environmental cost of a Google search, a generative AI query, or streaming a video is often invisible to the end-user.
This "hidden" impact makes it difficult for consumers and businesses to make informed, sustainable choices.

What is Carbon Intensity?
Carbon intensity measures the amount of greenhouse gases emitted
per unit of output
or activity.
In tech, this refers
to emissions
per kilowatt-hour of electricity consumed.
For companies, carbon intensity is a critical metric for measuring the environmental-impact of their business operations, through the lens of emissions per energy used.
The carbon-intensity of a software and devices is the underlying environmental footprint of our IT consumption, which can make or break a tech company’s ESG goals.
