Temasek is a global investment company headquartered in Singapore.

Temasek has an annual staff learning initiative called the CEO Challenge, organised by the Organisation and People department. Employees are encouraged to step out of their comfort zone and develop ideas that can benefit both the organisation and the broader community.

The theme for 2024 was on Sustainability. We were engaged to facilitate and curate Climate Fresk workshops for their employees across 8 countries. The challenge happened in 3 phases - Foundation (Learning about Climate Change), Future Forward (Advancing and proposing employee-driven project), Finals (Pitch Presentation to a Panel of Judges).

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Goal: Gather collective ideas fostering active contribution to Temasek’s sustainability effort through employee-driven operational projects

  • After participants learnt about global climate change through the Climate Fresk, they were given Temasek-specific sustainability objectives to ideate a project and contribute towards. In a sustainability hackathon format, the teams went through selection rounds to make it to the finals, with coaching by us. 

  • As workshop vendors, we were present as mentors and advisors to the CEO Challenge team to help them empower their teams and educate them both on Climate Change. As well as to communicate and raise awareness on Temasek’s ongoing sustainability efforts, initiatives and relevant key ESG Concepts to ensure that all employees were aware and involved in Temasek’s strong commitment to sustainability.
    Our key objectives were to prepare, execute and facilitate climate education workshops, both in-person & online, as well as walk with the various teams to organise, ideate and refine their proposed ideas. Finally, we aided in preparing them to pitch, present and organise their ideas for the final presentation. 

We remained present and active throughout the entirety of the CEO Challenge, ensuring that sustainability didn’t just remain a lofty idea but a concrete, fun and actionable necessary step. 

KEY DELIVERABLES:

Delivery of 40+ climate education workshops

this is our biggest rollout yet in Europe, North & Central America, Asia and North Africa.

Engaging 700+ Temasek Employees. 

  • Climate Fresk & employee brainstorming curated to the DNA of Temasek, getting employees from various teams & functions to ideate and contribute meaningfully to the organisation’s sustainability roadmap & pillars. 

  • We worked closely with the CEO Challenge organising committee to design a Temasek-Specific Roadmapping and Project Ideation template, alongside presentation of their sustainability pillars, projects and targets for employees to understand and contribute to. 

  • Mentor sessions of all teams to ensure groups work in tandem with the judging criteria. 

  • Coaching & Preparation of top 5 final teams to present and pitch their project ideas to a panel of judges including directors and senior management.

  • Deep-Dive for each team: Preparation of submission template - Identify stakeholders and objectives of a solution, Basic Impact Assessment + Feasibility, Target Setting & Project Timeline, Resource & Budget Planning.

Approach: Curated Climate Fresk Workshop
 

This workshop combines knowledge about Climate Change and customised brainstorming to initiate and accelerate your sustainability journey as an organisation.

Based on the IPCC report, it explains how and why the climate changes at the current pace and the consequences of its disruption. Card-Game Based; with 42 cards each detailing one aspect of climate change, going from the causes and its consequences (back on humanity)

The Climate Fresk workshop formed the basis of knowledge about the ongoing climate crisis, which we then curated by Temasek's DNA information to upskill and build the capacity of employees to understand the relevancy of climate change to their organisation. We design the workshop’s narrative, brainstorming and activities curated to the client’s organisation, business and sustainability strategy, fully contextualised to their operations, geography and functions

PROJECT OUTCOME

We engaged and facilitated 769 staff, in 148 teams, on Climate Fresk workshops across a few months. 

  • 12 Teams were shortlisted and selected to go into the next phase where we coached them in developing and expanding their ideas using the Deep Dive Template we co-developed with our client.

  • Finally, 5 teams were selected to go into the finals showcase, with 3 winning teams selected to go on with internal implementation & adoption of their proposed projects for Temasek.
