Climate Risk & Adaptation Management

About

The Climate Risk and Adaptation Masterclass is a comprehensive course designed to educate participants on the critical aspects of climate risks & adaptation approach.

It focuses on understanding climate risks, distinguishing between mitigation and adaptation strategies, and exploring their importance and synergistic co-benefits.

The program emphasises that both mitigation and adaptation are essential for a holistic approach to combating climate change.

Methodology

This course utilises a case-study based approach. Participants will be guided through real-world scenarios from our extensive repository. They will learn a step-by-step process to:

  • Assess an organisation's exposure, vulnerabilities, and potential impacts related to climate events and risks.

  • Identify and evaluate a range of adaptation strategies.

  • Prioritise these strategies based on their effectiveness and relevance to the case organization.

Effectiveness

By working through practical case studies, participants will gain hands-on experience in climate risk assessment and strategic planning.

The methodology enables them to develop a deep, practical understanding of how to identify, analyse, and prioritize adaptation measures.

This equips them with the skills to effectively prepare their own organisations for the challenges posed by climate change, ensuring resilience and sustainability.

Key Concepts

  • Climate Risks*: Understanding the potential negative impacts of climate events, such as extreme weather, sea-level rise, and resource scarcity.

  • Mitigation: Actions taken to reduce or prevent the emission of greenhouse gases.

  • Adaptation: Strategies and adjustments made in response to actual or expected climate impacts.

  • Co-benefits: The additional advantages that result from mitigation and adaptation efforts, such as improved public health, economic opportunities, and environmental protection.

  • Vulnerability Assessment: A systematic process to identify and analyze an organization's susceptibility to climate-related harm.

Note: * We do not cover transition risks during our workshops & masterclass due to their complex and dynamic constitution. However we can offer our input on over a 30mins Speed-Consulting call if you have any questions.
